Our privacy policy
Who we are
BrightSide Books is based in Cheshire, Connecticut. This policy explains what we collect from website visitors and from families we work with, and what we do with it.
What we collect
From the contact form: your name, email, and optionally your phone number, details about the person the book is for, and anything else you choose to tell us, the kind of book you’re considering, any date you’re working toward, how you’d prefer to talk, and how you heard about us.
From families we work with: interview recordings and transcripts, photographs, letters, documents and other material you send us, the manuscript and its drafts, and the contact and billing details needed to run the project.
How we use it
Only to respond to your inquiry and to write, design, produce and deliver your book. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers who help us run the website and make your book. These include our website host, which delivers this site and receives messages sent through the contact form, and the providers who help us conduct and transcribe interviews, prepare manuscripts, store files securely, and print and bind books. Our bookbinding partner is in England, so the book’s print files are transferred outside the United States for production. Each provider receives only what it needs for its part of the work.
Marketing
We never use a family’s recordings, photographs, stories or pages publicly without that family’s explicit permission.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to team@brightsidebooks.co.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn’t use advertising trackers. It’s hosted by Netlify, which processes standard technical information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the site securely.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above.
